  1. Measure out all the ingredients.
  2. Cream the butter (which has been brought to room temperature) until soft. Add all of the sugar and mix well until light-colored.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla essence and mix well. Sift in the dry ingredients.

  11. I chopped a chocolate bar and mixed it into the plain cookie dough to make chocolate chip cookies. Form into a cylinder shape, freeze, and cut into slices.
  12. If the dough softens too much and it's hard to cut out the cookies, letting the dough rest briefly in the freezer right after you roll it out will make it easier.
